Joe Lawson AWCF - Master Farrier
"There is something about the outside of a horse, that is good for the inside of a man."
~ Sir Winston Churchill ~
Farriery is both a passion and a profession for me. I began my apprenticeship in 2011 and became qualified in 2015, achieving the Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (DipWCF). In 2019, I advanced my qualifications by passing the Associate exam, a higher, remedial-focused exam that assesses practical and theoretical knowledge, as well as proficiency with modern farriery materials.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with many different types of horses and equine disciplines. This has endowed me with valuable experience and expertise in both routine farriery and specialized remedial work.
Perhaps more important than skill level and qualifications, however, is having the right attitude and approach when working with strong, intelligent, and characterful animals. Patience, understanding, and compassion are all integral to my professional ethos.
